Smiles on both faces

There are moments in life when dreams come true. This is true for our Paam Laafi team and Roma. Just a few days after his birth, Roma developed a meningitis which left him with a serious visual impairment, lack of coordination and neglect on the left side of his body. Although very intelligent, Roma could never go to a normal school, since he also had regular epileptic-like crises. Encouraged by our partner Go to Nations' national director Joel Hayslip, we decided to dedicate an important portion of the Paam Laafi Pediatric Clinic to give these children hope and a way out from their impairing disabilities.

This morning Joke Naulaerts, expat missionary with Tearfund and Neuropsychologist met for the first therapeutic session with Roma. Smiles and joy on their faces. We rejoice in a good start of this program and look forward to the many children of Burkina Faso that will find new hope and get a chance to be set free from their isolation caused by their disabilities.

Joke just arrived at the Paam Laafi team and will spearhead the development of a center for disabled and impaired people with the main focus on children. She will also help coordinate the follow up with the follow-up of the mobile clinics to the primary schools.
